Come Join Us For Thanksgiving
At Prospect Point Cottages!

The leaves have fallen and the air is cool, but the glow of the Adirondacks beckons. What better way to toss off the hurried worries of our world than to return to what's real and true in life? Come make new friends, and join our family for a very special Thanksgiving at Prospect Point. Things start off with a Welcome Wine, Cheese & Smorgasbord Dinner Wednesday evening. (A few years ago people ate before they got here. That's a no-no. Please arrive hungry!) Thursday morning enjoy a lovely light repast. Later on we'll gather in the Prospect Room for a homemade Thanksgiving Day feast fit for a king. As the day wanes, enjoy music and laughter, fire and fellowship, and plenty of desert and hot apple cider.

Thanksgiving afternoon will be highlighted by a special treat - a fascinating presentation on the Thanksgiving Traditions of lower New York's Native People, the Lenape - the very people who greeted the Europeans and welcomed our colonial forbears. Back by popular demand, the presentation will be delivered by our very own resident anthropologist and writer, David Oestreicher. This year David will share with us the eloquent words he gathered from tribal elders in a glimpse of a nearly vanished world.

Friday morning wake up to our famous gourmet all-you-can-eat Adirondack Brunch, and find out what everyone's been raving about.

So if your extended family's far away this year, think Blue Mountain Lake and join ours!

Space is limited so please give us a call or send an e-mail if you'd like to come,
so we can set a place for you at our table.

ABOUT OUR SPEAKER:

A speaker for the NY State Council for the Humanities and recognized authority on Eastern Woodland Tribes, David Oestreicher has spent a lifetime living and working with the few remaining traditional elders of the Lenape (Delaware) Indians, learning their language and recording their fascinating stories and culture. In 2009, as part of the Hudson Quadricentennial, Dr. O curated an exhibition at the Ellis Island Immigration Museum entitled "Lenape: Ellis Island's First Inhabitants." The exhibit, called "rich and groundbreaking" by Native Peoples Magazine, and "a signature event of the Quadricentennial" by DEC Commissioner Peter Grannis, met with wide acclaim from the media and the public, and received citations from Governor and Mrs. Paterson.
